Community Speed Watch

Following many complaints from residents in regards to speeding in Great Coates, the Village Council will be introducing Community Speed Watch from February.

Community Speedwatch is a national initiative where active members of local communities join with the support of the Police to monitor speeds of vehicles using speed detection devices.

Vehicles exceeding the speed limit are referred to the Police with the aim of educating drivers to reduce their speeds. In cases where education is blatantly ignored and evidence of repeat or excessive offences is collated (even across county borders), enforcement and prosecution follow.

To operate the scheme the Council are seeking a small number of volunteers who are prepared to commit 1-2 hrs a month. You will be working in a team of three and full training will be provided together with support from Humberside Police.

If you would like to be part of the program and help make Great Coates a safer community please email or send a private message including your name and contact details.
